Imagine you are 16 years old and play rugby. You have competitive game on a Sunday morning, and will be playing on the historic main pitch at Bramley Road. A pitch graced by Internationals and legends during rugby’s amateur period. The grandstand is filled with parents clutching hot drinks to guard off the cold, and noisy, excited, minis. The scoreboard shines brightly. Everything is ready, what more could you want? The answer, an International Referee.
The U16B Infidels hosted new friends Grasshoppers in a Herts/Middlesex Division 4 game last Sunday, the players were privileged to welcome Larissa Ferreira as their match referee. Larissa is from Rio de Janeiro and is a Level 9 referee, she is visiting London to gain experience. The game was played in a great spirit and we hope the weather didn’t put Larissa off England too much.
What other sport could offer this?
In the picture, Larissa is with Saracens legend, Eugene Yost and Grasshoppers U16 coach, James Diver.
Stop press – Larissa may be back for another match at Bramley Road soon.
