Saracens Women win again
Saracens Women clocked up their second win in the Premiership away to Bristol Ladies on Sunday with a 15-21 win in the West Country.
In a high energy encounter, Saracens raced ahead during the first half, despite an early sin-binning for flanker, Poppy Cleall. Fullback, Lauren Cattell struck two penalties and captain, Maggie Alphonsi crossed the whitewash after a great line break & offload from speedy winger Zira Handley. Rachael Potter added another following a strong break from prop, Kerrie-Ann Craddock bringing the half time score to 0-16 to the visitors.
A yellow card to Saracens on 37 minutes gave Bristol an edge at the start of the second half and Katie Mason demonstrated some impeccable footwork and running ability to take advantage and score on 43 minutes.
Back to full strength, Saracens replied through Hannah Gallagher on 60 minutes bringing the score to 5 – 21, but the home team continued to push. After an injury reduced Saracens to 14 players, they were forced to defend hard for the final quarter. Despite a valiant defensive effort, Bristol capitalised on the extra man as debutant, Sydney Gregson dotted down 68 minutes and 70 minutes in.
Two late yellow cards for Bristol in the final few minutes gave Saracens the opportunity to add to their score however they were held up over the line, leaving the visitors with a tight win in tough conditions, 15-21.
